Hyderabad: AP Irrigation Minister Devineni Umamaheshwara Rao today condemned the statement of his Telangana counterpart Harish Rao on the Rajolibanda Diversion Scheme (RDS).
Speaking to the media here on Wewdnesday, Devineni said it was not proper for Telangana minister to make baseless allegations without holding talks on the issue. “The dispute was not between Harish Rao and Devineni. It was related to three States”, Uma said and strongly refuted charges of Harish Rao that AP rulers have been creating hurdles over the project when the Telangana government was holding talks with Karnataka government on RDS.
Devineni alleged that AP Leader of Opposition Y S Jaganmohan Reddy has secret understanding with Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and got Rs 10,000-crore worth contract sanctioned to his henchmen. Now he is on Jala Deeksha with this money, he charged.
Devineni suggested that disputes between the two Telugu States are not good and problems should be resolved amicably across the table. Projects should be taken up after getting permissions, otherwise farmers will be affected. There was a need to protect interests of the State as well as farmers’ rights, he said. (NSS)
