Patna, October 21: Drawing a corollary from the prevailing notion of two Indias, the CPI(M) today said the socio-economic and infrastructure in rural and urban Bihar replicated it contrary to claims by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
“There prevails a wide gulf between rural and urban Bihar on the index of development even now,” CPI(M) politburo member Sitaram Yechuri told reporters after campaigning for party candidates in the rural hinterland.
Yechuri said though the state government has improved road infrastructure upto district headquarters, there was no improvement in connectivity or the quality of life of the rural people.
The CPI(M) leader said his party was interested in consolidating Left unity in the Assembly polls and ensuring the victory of as many candidates as possible to act as a pressure group in the next state legislature in formulation of pro-poor socio-economic policies.
