New Delhi, July 17 (ANI): The Congress Party on Friday alleged that the development of Jammu and Kashmir, which has witnessed the worst floods, is not on the agenda of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Congress leader Meem Afzal, who was reacting to Prime Minister Modi’s veiled criticism of Congress president Sonia Gandhi’s son-in-law Robert Vadra, said the children of many politicians are in politics.
“There are several politicians whose children are not in politics while there are others who kids are there in politics. It is there in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) as well as the other parties. So, I think whatever he said was general. But the biggest disappointment that has come following his visit is that no package was announced for Jammu and Kashmir,” Afzal told ANI here.
“The situation there has not improved after the floods, the people there are still worried. The compensation, which they have got, is very less. He gave good wishes on Eid. If he had given a good package on the auspicious occasion of Eid then everyone would have been delighted. But i think the development of Jammu and Kashmir is not on the agenda of Modi ji,” he added.
Paying his tributes to late Congress leader Girdhari Lal Dogra on his centenary celebrations, Prime Minister Modi took a dig at Vadra with his sons-in-law remark, and said these days we all know what kind of things are said about ‘damaads’
“Dogra Sahab would have been a very good judge of people’s abilities. And one example is the son-in-law he selected. There was no similarity in the political ideology of Dogra Sahab and Arun Jaitley. These days, we know what kind of things are said about ‘damaads’,” he said.
The Prime Minister said that there is no question of political untouchability and everyone who has worked for the nation, has to be respected.
“Earlier, I saw an exhibition on Mr. Dogra. What touched me most was the fact that in all of Girdhari Lal ji’s photos, I never saw a single person from his family. It is a victory for Girdhari Lal Dogra ji that he inspired a line of leaders after him, he became a man who shaped a generation of leaders,” he added. (ANI)
