Bangalore, January 21: Attacking both the Congress and BJP
for the current ”crisis” and ”anti-people” policies, former
Prime Minister and Janata Dal(Secular) leader H D Deve Gowda
today said the third alternative is must for the country.
Both the Congress and the BJP have failed totally on all
fronts. Both the national parties are responsible for the
current crisis in the country. All secular non-Congress and
non-BJP parties should come together to fight against them,’’
Mr Gowda told reporters here at the party’s National Plenary
Session.
Attacking sarcastically on both the national parties, the former
Prime Minister claimed that they were taking advantage of the
current political scenario by saying that the regional parties
have no importance and government of the regional parties would
not be stable.
”For welfare of the nation, all the secular non-Congress and
non-BJP parties should forget their differences and come together.
It does not matter if there is any difference between me and Lalu
(the RJD supremo) and Mulayam Singh Yadav (the SP chief),” he
added.
During the Plenary Session, the party was all in mood to initiate
the strategy to chalk out a plan for the third alternative with the
Left, TDP, RLD, INLD, AIADMK and others. Mr Gowda stated that all
these like-minded parties can make a federal with a proper policy
document and a concrete programme.
Further attacking the Congress-led UPA and NDA governments, the
JD(S) leader said both the national parties have adopted pro-West
economic policies.
Taking a pot shot at the BJP, Mr Gowda said the saffron party has
no ”moral” right to talk on corruption.
”The BJP and its veteran L K Advaniji are demanding that the
black money deposited in the foreign banks be brought back. But I ask
Advaniji that why he was so helpless on the issue when he was the
Deputy Prime Minister. Was he not aware of the issue that time,” he
added.
