Devdi Khurshid Jah in a state of dilapidation

There were many palaces, gardens and devdis surrounding Charminar but today they can only be seen in the pages of history. Devdi Khursheed Jah is one among them which now lies in a state of ruin. It is said to have served the home for the Paigah family.

Well famed as a gorgeous mansion with imposing pillars and a strikingly European design Devdi Khursheed Jah’s floors were once adorned with expensive carpets and its ceiling held exclusive chandeliers. With gardens blossoming with beautiful flowers and fountains forming integral part of the building, it was a popular tourist attraction.

The situation took a new turn and the devdi was being used as a building for girls’ college however the building has been declared dilapidated by architects and it was told that the structure can fall at any time. The municipality banned its use and department of archaeology listed it as heritage building. Despite that the concerned officials don’t turn up or take up any repairs.

The devdi once counted among one of Hyderabad’s best palaces is now being rented for shooting. The palace is shown as a haunted place or a hangout for villains and hooligans.
