Srinagar, October 20:Terming the detention of two Kashmiri cricketers in Bangalore last week as unfortunate, PDP president Mehbooba Mufti said incidents like it add to the Kashmiris’ “alienation”.
“This is unfortunate (detention of cricketers). We are living under seige both within and outside the state. We are suspected. Incidents like Bangalore add to Kashmiris’ alienation,” Mufti told reporters here today.
Two Kashmiri cricketers — Parvez Rasool and Mehrajuddin — part of an under 22 J and K cricket team were detained in Bangalore on Saturday after traces of explosives were allegedly found in their kit bag but were subsequently released after questioning by the police for lack of evidence.
Mufti also alleged that people were being denied passports in the state on grounds of militancy links.
