Despite stiff challenge, BJP wins Uttar Pradesh civic polls

Lucknow: Despite a hard challenge in Uttar Pradesh from the opposition, BJP has won the civic polls. State CM Yogi Adityanath on Friday sounded confident in an event and said that this victory would lay a foundation for winning all 80 seats in upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

The polls were held in three phases starting from November 22. Where UP state government bagged 14 out of 16 mayoral seats.

BJP’s mayoral candidates won in Varanasi, Gorakhpur, Ghaziabad, Bareilly, Agra, Firozabad, Ayodhya, Mathura, Lucknow, Kanpur, Saharanpur Jhansi and Bareilly, and Moradabad, quotes Financial Express.

Referring to Congress’ defeat in Amethi, Yogi said: “Prime Minister Narendra Modi wants to make India a global power… Those who talked of defeating the BJP in Gujarat have lost the election in Amethi too.”

Explaining BJP’s big-win reason, Yogi lauded party’s team spirit for acting as a single entity.
