Despite chargesheet, Kanhaiya Kumar to contest election from Begusarai

Patna: Communist Party of India on Thursday dispelled rumours that RJD is not supporting the former president of JNU students union Kanhaiya Kumar from Begusarai. According to CPI, the party is in contact with RJD chief Lalu Yadav. After meeting with Lalu in Ranchi jail the current political situation in the state and distribution of seats will be discussed.

According to sources, left front parties along with the RJD are busy giving final shape to 3 seats which include Kanhaiya Kumar of CPI from Begusarai and Ramdev Varma of CPIML from Ujiarpur.

It must be noted that the Delhi Police filed a chargesheet on Monday against former Jawaharlal Nehru University Students’ Union (JNUSU) president Kanhaiya Kumar and others in a sedition case lodged in 2016.

According to sources, RJD was doubtful of fielding Kanhaiya Kumar from Begusarai seat as Mahagathbandhan candidate. RJD feels that after the controversy, chances of winning the Begusarai seat could be affected.
