Despite arrests, police fail to recover stolen cash and goods

Panchkula, June 30: Even as the police make tall claims of cracking most of the recently committed robberies in Panchkula, recovery of the loot still eludes them.

While no recovery could be made in the Sector-20, Sector-6 and Sector-20 bank robbery cases, all that the sleuths could lay their hands on in the PC Jewellers case was a gold chain and a few grams of gold.

Sector-20 case
A gang of three people drugged Omkar Chand Rathaur (25) and Om Prakash Pandey (30), employees of Amritsar-based PS Seth and Sons, in AWHO Society on January 22.

Although the gang made away with gold ornaments worth about Rs 30 lakh, two of the members —-Jackson and Kabir —- were later arrested.

According to Crime Branch in-charge Inspector Kulbhushan, until the third accomplice Twinkle is arrested, the recovery of the ornaments will be difficult.

Pradeep Kumar, the owner of the jewellery shop, said, “While the arrests were made three months ago, the police have failed to recover anything from the accused”.

PC Jewellers case

Five armed persons decamped with jewellery worth Rs 1.75 crore from PC Jewellers’ showroom in Sector 14. Later, the police arrested accused Amit Yadav, Samir Nain and Pawan Saini along with others and claimed to have recovered a gold chain and a few grams of gold. Manager of the showroom Abha, however, said: “Till date, we have not received anything recovered from the robbers.”

In this case, too, the police said that a number of accused are still absconding. “Till the time all the members of the gang are not arrested, recovery of the goods will be difficult,” Inspector Kulbhushan said.
