Desist from violence, your demands just: Sailajanath to lawyers

Hyderabad, September 17: Justifying the demand of 42 percent quota in jobs for Telanganites, Government Whip S Sailajanath on Thursday appealed to Telangana leaders not to resort to violence before submission of Srikrishna Commission report on December 31.

Talking to media persons at the CLP Media Point, Mr Sailajanath said though lawyers demand was just, they should not resort to ransacking of court property and boycotts.

“The lawyers can raise their demands in a peaceful manner abiding by the Constitution without harming interests of others,” he said.

“As per the Gentleman’s agreement, the High Court should be set up in Kurnool. However, the High Court was set up in Hyderabad region as per the agreement. Seemandhra leaders also suffered heavy loss due to establishment of capital in Hyderabad both industrially and economically,” he pointed out.

The Government Whip urged government to appoint Scheduled Caste candidate for Advocate-General post to address the regional imbalances.

He said the Seemandhra leaders will meet on Friday to chalk out future course of action to be adopted on various issues and appealed to all Seemandhra leaders to participate in the meeting to express their views on various issues freely and fairly.

“Based on the Seemandhra leaders’ views, a strategy would be adopted to deal with various issues,” Mr Sailajanath said.
