BJP MP Yogi Adityanath’s supports allegedly has threatened to boycott voting in the 2017 Assembly polls in UP if the party does not project the controversial leader as its chief ministerial candidate.
According to IE news, The right-wing outfit put up hoardings at several places in Faizabad district, has spelled out its threat in clear terms: “Yogi nahin toh vote nahin, Mission 2017”, “Desh me Modi, Pradesh me Yogi”, etc.
“I have to send a message to the BJP from the land of Ram temple that it must project Yogiji as the CM candidate”, said HYV’s Faizabad unit president Shambhunath Jaiswal.
“The entire Hindu community and the sant fraternity believe that Yogiji is the most suitable candidate for the CM post in Uttar Pradesh”, he added.
While the hoardings carry his photographs, the MP is learnt to have expressed his “unhappiness” over this and has distanced himself from his outfit’s call, which he reportedly termed as “meaningless”.
He asserted that if the BJP does not pay heed to the “sentiments of the Hindu community” and ignores Adityanath, HYV workers will not cast their vote in the assembly elections next year. He claimed that several organisations of Sikh Samaj and Sindhi Samaj in Faizabad stand by the outfit’s demand.
