Desecration of Quranic verses on the title page of translated Bhagwad Gita published by Dairat-ul-Maarif

Hyderabad: Dairat-ul-Maarif of Osmania University published the translation of Bhagwad Gita. On its title page, the chariot was printed on the top and the logo of Dairat-ul-Maarif was printed under it which amounts to desecration of Quranic verses.

When the officials of Dept. of Minorities Welfare received a complaint, they instructed the authorities of Dairat-ul-Maarif to change the objectionable title. In the logo, the Quranic verse meaning “This is a valuable book” was printed.

It may be mentioned that Dept. of Minority Affairs, Govt. of India sanctioned Rs. 37 crore under Dhruva Scheme to Dairat-ul-Maarif for the translation and publication of Arabic books into English. It is reported that the authorities of Dairat-ul-Maarif have been taking unilateral decisions. There is a need for the constitution of Monitoring Committee to oversee the publication of books.
