Jalna: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) today arrested a resident Deputy Collector and another person here for demanding a bribe of Rs three lakh from a contractor.
Pravin More, deputy superintendent of ACB, said the district administration had given a contract for data entry to the complainant who submitted a bill and approached the resident Deputy Collector Rajesh Itware (57) for sanctioning it.
Itware allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 3 lakh.
The complainant promised that he would pay him after the bill was cleared. Afterwards he lodged a complaint with ACB.
In the meanwhile, Itware introduced the complainant to his `agent’, Atique Shaikh Ahmed (49), and asked the complainant to hand over the cash to him.
After verifying the complaint, the ACB arrested both Itware and Atique Shaikh today.
