Depressed man jumps to death at Gamdevi

Mumbai, Dec 25: After struggling for 10 years with depression, a 53-year-old man jumped to death on Thursday morning from his plush 19th-floor flat in Pushpak Apartment building at Altamount Road, Gamdevi.

The deceased has been identified as Kazil Ratan Patel. He was living with his sister Shiraj, 51, and brother-in-law Diniar Hansodia, 54. “Patel was struggling with severe depression for the last ten years and was on medication.

He was always tense,” said police inspector Sudhir Mali of Gamdevi police station, adding that Patel was single and was not working.
On Thursday morning at 9.30am, when Shiraj was making breakfast for Patel and Diniar had left for office, Patel jumped off from the balcony in his bedroom.

Patel’s body was sent to JJ Hospital for post-mortem, and a case of accidental death has been registered at the Gamdevi police station. The police will take the official statements of the family members once they are out of the shock.
