Kolkata, September 13: Former champions East Bengal humiliated Mohammedan Sporting 5-0 despite playing with 10 men for the last 67 minutes in the Sahara Calcutta Premir Soccer League at Yuba Bharati Krirangan here today.
East Bengal, thanks to their fine marksmanship, led 1-0 at half time through Harmonjit Singh Khabra.
Striker Robin Singh struck twice immediately after the breather while skipper Saumik Dey made it 4-0 midway into the second half. Australian recruit T Ozeb completed the demolition job with another goal towards the end.
With this victory, East Bengal lead the table with 12 points, winning all their four matches, while Mohammedan Sporting have seven points from four outings.
East Bengal were reduced to ten men when referee Tushar Kanti Guha sent off Nigerian striker Orgitenn for handling the ball delibaretly. Mohammedan, however, failed to use Orgitenn’s expulsion to their advantage.
