This perspective of rich and upper classes shows their bias towards SC,BC and Minorities.
The general feeling of relief from the domination of sc,bc was very evident.
THE Darul Uloom Deoband has called upon SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav to fulfil his promise of 18 per cent reservation for Muslims in state government jobs.
“ The SP had declared it would give 18 per cent quota to the community if it formed the government. Mulayam had said that while he will pressure the Centre to amend the Constitution, his government will fix the quota for Muslims immediately. The Muslims trusted him and stood behind him. So now it’s time for him to act accordingly,” spokesperson Ashraf Usmani said on Wednesday.
He also rejected BSP supremo Mayawati’s statement that most Muslims had voted for the SP because they feared that the upper caste Hindus would bring the “ communal BJP” back to power.
“ The Darul Uloom doesn’t agree with this. There was no fear in the mind of the community. The Muslims voted for the SP only with the hope that they will get their rights,” he said.
According to Usmani, Muslims were not happy with the empty promises of political parties who just use the community votebank. “ But this time, they assessed the promises and believed that Mulayam would really give them 18 per cent job quota,” he said.
For the record, of the 61 Muslim candidates who have won this time, 39 are from the SP and 12 from the BSP. There are four winners on tickets of the Congress- RLD combine. The Peace Party of India has got three MLAs and the Quami Ekta Dal has got two. One Muslim MLA is from the Itehad- ul- Millat.
Also, the SP won 72 of the 140 assembly seats where Muslims constitute more than 25 per cent of the population. The BSP won 37 seats and the Congress- RLD combine bagged 11.
Secular forces were able to get 120 seats from 140 seats where Muslims constitute 25% of population.BJP which always exploited anti-Muslim feeling and won from Muslim dominated area is angry and frustrated at the loss .
Azam Khan, SP’s Muslim face, said: “ It is true that Muslims voted for us in large numbers. We thank them. I can assure them we will work to fulfil all promises.”
