DEO asks Micro Observers to ensure free and fair polls

District Election Officer Somesh Kumar said that the Micro Observers must take this job as a national pride and be a part of election process and their efforts made at the polling stations will go in a long way for free and fair poll.

The DEO welcomed all the Micro Observers from various Government Departments and congratulated them for taking initiative to perform their duties to the important task and Micro Observers have a very crucial role to play in conducting independent, free and fair elections. To strengthen the system of observation the Commission has consciously decided to deploy Micro Observers where necessary. Election is a new event and a new phenomena and those who are doing first time and those who have done earlier they may not worry about it and further said that the Mukesh Kumar Meena, Returning Officer and Election Observers have given detailed presentation about the role to be played by the Micro Observers for the ensuing General Elections.

The DEO stated that a booklet with clear instructions about the role to be played will be provided on 29th to know the procedures to be adopted while performing the duties. This job is a very important one and every Micro Observer must ensure this election happen in a free and fair manner. The main important aspect is to reach in time to the polling station on 29th it is better to identify the Polling Station location on 29th itself so that they can reach in time as their presence is a must at the P.S. on 30th June at 5.30 am sharp for mock poll. He also informed the Micro Observers it will be a very long day to have to be prepare to perform well without any hindrance.

Nagambika Devi, Election Observer has interacted with the Micro Observers and explained their duties to be performed in a more planned and appropriate way and informed that ECI has appointed the Micro Observers to take up the big task and vital role to be played as the Micro Observers are the eyes and ears of the observers and in turn the Election Observers are Eyes and Ears of ECI. She further stated that the process of observation on the day of poll the Micro Observers should specially observe the 9 points; Mock Roll Procedure; Presence of Polling Agents and observance of ECI instructions with regard to them; The observance of entry pass system and access to polling Station; Proper identification of electors in accordance with ECI guidelines; Identification and recording procedures for the Absentee, Shifted and Duplicate voter’s list (ASD list); Application of Inedible ink; Noting down particulars of electors in register 17-A; Secrecy of voting and Conduct of polling agents, their complaints, if any, etc

Earlier Mukesh Kumar Meena has given a detailed Power Point Presentation on the role of Micro Observers and explained the duties to be performed for the ensuing general elections.

Election Observers – Vinod Kumar Katela, Baleshwar Singh, Suresh Kumar and Sanjeev Srivastav, have also participated and interacted with the Micro Observers and explained them roll to play for conduct of smooth independent free and fair elections. (INN)
