Dense Fog Persists In Punjab, Haryana, Minimum Temperature Above Normal

Chandigarh: Minimum temperatures hovered well above normal in several parts of Punjab and Haryana as a thick blanket of fog engulfed the two states, affecting road, rail and air traffic.

According to the MeT Department in Chandigarh, fog reduced visibility at several places including Amritsar, Ludhiana, Patiala, Jalandhar, Ambala, Kurukshetra, Karnal, Panipat, Faridabad and Gurugram.

Chandigarh also witnessed a low visibility due to fog early in the morning.

Movement of vehicular traffic was affected at many places in the two states due to fog while several trains were reported running late.

Chandigarh recorded a minimum temperature of 11.2 degrees Celcius, four notches above normal limits.

Ambala recorded a low of 10.4 degrees Celcius, up three notches against normal. Karnal recorded a low of 10.2 degrees Celcius, two notches above normal while Hisar registered a low at 11.3 degrees Celcius, up four notches.

In Punjab, Amritsar recorded a low of 8.8 degrees Celcius, three degrees above normal.

Ludhiana’s minimum also settled at 8.8 degrees Celcius, up two notches while Patiala registered a low of 11.5 degrees Celcius, three degrees more than normal level.
