Hyderabad, February 16: A degree student turned into a chain snatcher allegedly to pay his examination fees with the government failing to release his scholarship amount.
20-year-old Durga Prasad, a third year BSc student from Loyola Academy at Alwal was facing difficulties in paying his exam fees.
Though Durga Prasad’s family could provide money to him in the first two years, they later developed financial problems. Compounding to the problem, Durga Prasad who hails from the SC community did not get his scholarship amount since the start of the academic year.
With the examinations nearing and the college authorities reportedly pressing for payment, Durga Prasad had to resort to wrong methods. “I was forced to commit offences as I had to pay my examination fees and my scholarship is not released by the government,” Durga Prasad told reporters on Tuesday.
He had committed two snatchings in Alwal area in the last one month.
