LUCKNOW: While the country is facing ripples due to demonetization, Bhartiya Janata Party has planned to push its plank through five major rallies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in poll bound Uttar Pradesh.
Modi has already addressed a rally in Ghazipur on November 14 and used the platform to justify his step of demonetization. He has hailed his decision as a kadak (strong) decision like kadak chai. Modi utilized the rally for projecting his government’s tough stand towards black money. He also hinted at some more drastic step in coming days.
Now the opposition parties in UP have embarked on a mission to present the decision of BJP government as anti people due to hardships faced by people. BSP chief Mayawati has termed it as economic emergency while SP president Mulayam has termed it as unjustified decision affecting the masses.
Amidst the charged atmosphere where people who are standing for long hours in queues for withdrawing or depositing cash at banks, BJP has announced that Modi will address five major rallies in coming days across UP. During the rallies Modi will present his stand over demonetization.
As per reports Modi will address first rally in Agra on 20 November followed by in Kushinagar on 27 November. He will then address rally on 3 December in Moradabad, 11 December in Bahraich and 18 December in Kanpur.
BJP does not wants to give any issue in the hands of opposition parties to cash on the hardships faced by people through the demonetization. It is hopeful that Modi’s rallies will clear the air and the circumstances under which such step was taken.
State’s BJP unit has instructed the division where rallies will be held to garner massive crowd from adjoining districts for Modi’s rally. These rallies are different from the ongoing Parivartan Yatra in the state.
However political analysts feel that it will be hard for the opposition parties in UP to beat BJP on demonetization wicket. Fingers are crossed as there may be some more steps in pipeline which may take the opposition parties by surprise in coming days.
