Demonetisation: Shiv Sena delegation to meet PM Narendra Modi

New delhi: A delegation of the Shiv Sena, which has been vocally opposing the Centre`s demonetisation scheme, will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the national capital on Tuesday to discuss the issue.

The meeting will take place at 12 noon in the Parliament Office of the Prime Minister.

The delegation will put forth their demand that district co-operative banks should also be allowed to exchange Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 old currency notes.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Modi today chaired a crucial Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) meeting ahead of the Parliamentary Session, where one of the agenda was likely to woo its ally Shiv Sena over the demonetisation scheme.

The Shiv Sena has been firm on its stand that demonetisation could have been implemented in a better way and that the Centre needs to do a rethink on the issue.

Taking the war over demonetisation to the next level, the Opposition parties have decided to protest against the Centre in front of the Gandhi statue outside Parliament on Wednesday.
