Hyderabad: Currency shortage has revived barter system in the city. People are purchasing vegetables in exchange for mobile recharge. People have adopted various means to cope up with the situation created due to sudden scrapping of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes by the Govt. of India.
A resident of the city told that he faced great embarrassment when he couldn’t find change to pay vegetable vendor for the vegetable purchased by him. He was in a dilemma, then the vegetable seller questioned to him, ‘Do you have internet connection?’ The customer was surprised to hear this. The vegetable seller repeated his question ‘Do you have mobile internet. If yes you can recharge my mobile for Rs. 100 thus pay the prize of vegetables.’
Demonetisation has become a problem for citizens. Even after issue new Rs. 2000 note, situation has not improved because small vendors do not carry so much change with them to give in exchange for Rs. 2000.
