Hyderabad: Demonetisation of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 currency notes by the centre has hit every field of life even the ruling TRS also seems to be bearing the brunt of Demonetisation. With the announcement of scrapping of old high denomination currency by the centre, TRS government cancelled its celebrations to mark the completion of two-and-a-half year rule of the state government.
It must be noted that the TRS government completes two and a half year in December and the party had announced to celebrate the completion of its midterm in the office with a bang. Preparations had also begun within the party. TRS leaders were considering the celebration a platform to flaunt successful implementation of all its flagship programmes. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s district visits were also being finalised to counter opposition’s anti-government campaign.
The preparations came to a halt with centre announcing abolition of Rs. 500 and Rs. 1000 currency. At a time when every person is busy with exchanging old notes with new ones at banks and their entire concentrations are now focused on how to face the problems stemmed from demonetisation, it is not easy to collect fund for the celebration. Besides the funds already available with the party needs to be exchanged with the new currency. A huge amount needs to be spent to bring people for the proposed programmes.
According to the estimation of party leaders Rs. 10 to 15 Cr. will be needed to mobilise people for a public meeting. Hence the party had no other choice but to cancel the celebrations.
