Demolition of properties on HMR route on brisk pace

Demolition of building in large scale was going on in Metro Rail corridors in different parts of the city to speed up the Metro Rail project works.
HMR MD NVS Reddy has informed Chief Secretary Dr Rajiv Sharma, during a review meeting on Metro Rail project today, several long-pending critical properties which have become major traffic bottlenecks are now being demolished and that Metro works are put on fast track.

The properties being demolished include eight Railway properties admeasuring about two acres near Secunderabad Railway station for which about Rs 45 crore was paid by HMR to SC Railway; six properties in Yousufguda (1,550 sq. yards and Rs 23.67 crore); Nandini Cafe/Gowtham Reddy property at Jubilee Hills Checkpost (598 sq yards – Rs 5.30 crore); five properties opposite Vijayabhaskar Reddy stadium at Yousufguda (400 sq yards – Rs. 2 Cr); front portion of Ashok Yadav building at Madhapur (169 sq yards); Bombay Bar & Restaurant, Nampally (88 sq.yds); properties from Secunderabad Clock Tower to Secunderabad Station road (400 sq yards – Rs. 5 Cr), and so on were paid.
Acquisition of some of these properties like Nandini cafe/ Gowtham Reddy property at Jubilee Hills Checkpost which is required for construction of Metro Rail viaduct in a sharp curve was held up for the last four years due to extraneous factors and prolonged litigation. The HMR MD further informed the CS that demolition of Jabbar building, Chintawar building and SBH building on the Begumpet road was nearing completion. (NSS)
