Demolition of illegal constructions in the Gurukul Trust lands in Madhapur is going on in full swing.
Officials of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation have taken up the demolition drive in the Gurukul Trust lands in Madapur on the specific instructions of Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhara Rao. Amidst elaborate police bandobust, the GHMC officials launched demolition of illegal buildings between Survey Nos 11 to 37 and razed to the ground 21 illegal structures in 620 acres.
The GHMC officials have formed into five teams and executing the demolition drive. GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar and others were supervising the operation demolition.
When Serilingampally MLA Arikepudi Gandhi and his 50-odd supporters intervened and tried to stop the demolition work, the police took them into custody. Gandhi alleged that the GHMC officials were being selective in their demolitions. They were leaving the houses belonging to TRS leaders and felling down other houses. He demanded that the illegal building be regularised. (NSS)
