In democracy everybody has right to live, says Prashant Bhushan

Lucknow: In a democratic country, everybody has a right to live, constitute an organization and transact business but in the present scenario, not only democracy but culture and civilization are also facing danger.

These thoughts were expressed by noted Supreme Court lawyer and President of Swaraj Abhiyan, Mr. Prashant Bhushan. He was addressing a meeting held at Ganga Prasad Memorial Hall, Ameenabad Park in Lucknow yesterday.

He further told that CAG, Election Commission (EC), Lokpal, CBI, Vigilance Commission are all the organs of democracy. He lamented that these days, media is not allowing the facts to reach the public.

He mentioned that 44% of Indian children face malnutrition, three lakh farmers committed suicide in the past 20 years.

He clarified that democracy does not mean exercising votes once in five years. It means participation in the Govt., formulation of policies and many other things. He expressed grief that 60% of the wealth of the country is accumulated in the hands of nine persons including Ambani and Adani.

Nirav Modi took selfie with PM Modi and fled away grabbing Rs. 3000 crore public money. Mehul Choksi whom PM Modi treats as his brother and Vijay Malya who shelved lookout notice went abroad. They are all PM Modi’s friends.

Now the question is, if one continues to fill the pockets of his friends grabbing the money from poor men’s pockets, can democracy flourish in such a situation?

For the past four years, if anyone said anything against Modi, he had to face sedition cases, abuses and other atrocities.

Mr. Bhushan said that Mr. Ravish Kumar, Mr. Kanhaiya Kumar, Ms. Barkha Dutt are harassed when they ask questions. They receive threats. In all such cases, somewhere PM Modi is behind. He issues instructions what is to be done, what is not to be done. Lynching in the name of cow is being used against Muslims. Police remains as spectators. All these facts reveal that there is a threat to democracy and the culture of the country.
