Demarcate Naya Qila Waqf property: HC

A Division Bench of the A.P. High Court comprising Chief Justice Madan B. Lokur and Justice P.V. Sanjay Kumar directed the A.P. Wakf Board and the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) to identify and clearly demarcate the notified Waqf properties within Naya Qilla area of the Golconda fort, Hyderabad within two months.

The Bench disposed of a writ petition filed by Mohammad Afzal and others. The petitioners complained that as the notified Waqf properties including Mustfakhan Mosque and some graves are not identified and demarcated, the Hyderabad Golf Association is altering the nature of land in the name of grassing.

In the light of the report of the former advocate general who visited the spot, the court directed to inspect the activities taken up by Hyderabad Golf Association.

The Bench felt that walls of the Golconda Fort should also not be defaced in any manner.
