By taking away freedom of expression, democratic values are being narrowed down. In order to encourage vested interests, the definition of politics and religion are being altered. Any voice raised for getting the legitimate rights is being suppressed by the iron rod of the police.
These thoughts were expressed by various revolutions working in the field of human rights joined together to demand the release of political prisoners. They have declared to organize “Political prisoner week” in the occassino of Bhagat Singh’s anniversary. The meeting was attended by the members of 11 political prisoners.
Revolutionary poet Mr. Vara Vara Rao, Prof. Haragopal, Mr. P. Ravendernath, Mr. Suresh Kumar, Advocate and others attended the meeting Bhagat Singh’s nephew Prof. Jagmohan was also present in the meeting.
Speaking on this occasion Mr. Vara Vara Rao said that natural resources are being looted. Those who raise their voice are being crushed. Citing the example of the Middle East, he said that the imperialist forces are trying to possess the control of oil and natural gas resources which are available under the feet of the Arabs. In the same way, there are plenty of natural resources under the feet of Afghanis in Afghanistan and the Adivasis of India.
In order to execute evil designs, the imperialist forces are making attempts to prove Muslims & the Advasis and Maoists. He lamented that Govt. is imposing ban on raising voice to create awareness among the people about human rights. He demanded the Govt. to release the prisoners immediately. They have been kept in jails for the past eight years with filing charge sheets against them. In case, these prisoners are released by the courts, Govt. is implicating them in other fabricated cases.
Speaking on this occasion, Porf. Jagmohan told that the present governments have confined freedom only for exercising votes which is part of their vested interests. Criticizing heavily the governments, he said that by delegating powers to the Army. They have made the institution of Army greater than the Parliament which is a great danger to the secular fabric of this country.
He pointed out that the Indians are facing the same difficulties which they faced during the slavery of the Britishers before the Independence of India. In many countries, hanging the convicts is being abolished but India, it is being practiced at a greater sped. Governments are becoming the slaves of the Army. All the speakers demanded the Govt. to release the political prisoners.
