TRS demanded the Chief Minister to enhance the seats in the medical college of Telangana Region in order to put an end to the continuing injustice meted out to the student of Telangana.
A delegation led by Mr.T.Harish Rao, MLA met the Chief Minister last evening in Secretariat and submitted a detailed memorandum to him.
Later, Talking to newsmen,Mr.Harish Rao told that there are less number of seats in the Medical colleges of Telangana area than Andhra Region. Recently ,650 seats were enhanced in medical colleges but not even a single seat was increased in the medical colleges of Telangana Region.
Giving the details of the students desirous of seeking admissions in medical colleges of Telangana,he told that a student who secures 965th rank doesn’t get a seat in the medical college of Telangana whereas a student who got the rank of 8691 gets admission in a medical college of Andhra Region.From this one incident, the injustice meted out to the students of Telangana could be assessed. He Told that the three medical college of Telangana, namely, Osmania, Gandhi and Kakatiya are supposed to be well-equipped with all the facilities. Despite this,the number of seats in these medical college is less. Making the regionwise comparison of the medical colleges, Mr.Harish Rao told that for 10 districts of Andhra Region, there are 9 medical colleges and for 4 districts of Rayalaseema area, there are 4 medical colleges whereas for 10 districts of Telangana, there are only four medical colleges. In addition to this, he also made a compassion of the seats and said that there are 750,550 and 600 seats in Andhra,Rayalseema and Telangana Regions respectively. He also mentioned that Hyderabad Dental college which was established in 1956,has only 40 seats whereas the dental college established in Kadapa in 2008 has 100 seats.
He said that the status of medical education in Telangana Region is deplorable. He,therefore, demanded the Chief Minister to take effective steps for the enhancement of seats in the medical colleges of Telangana Region.
