Demand to establish Minorities University in Bidar

Dr. Majid Daghi, Founder President of Hyderabad Karnataka Sangharsh Samithi demanded the Central Govt. to establish National Minorities University in Bidar district of Karnataka. He was addressing a conference of media persons at press club in Gulbarga. He told that Bidar has a unique distinction of being spiritual, historical and intellectual centre with minority concentration. He further told that during Bahmani and Baridshahi Dynasties, Gulbarga and Bidar were universally acclaimed intellectual centers. Mahmood Gawan’s Madarsa was enjoying the status of an international university at that time. He further told that in Hyderabad Karnataka region, the concentration of Minorities population is 23% whereas in Mandiya district it is only 3.96%. In such a case if the Universities establish in Mandiya, it will be useless exercise. He pointed out that Govt. of India selected Gulbarga and Bidar under Multi Sectorial Development program. If Minorities University is established in Bidar, the students from Maharashtra and A.P. could also be benefited due to its vicinity. He appealed to the C.M. of Karnataka, Mr. Sidda Ramaiah and Minorities Affairs Minister, Mr. K. Rahman Khan to give preference to Bidar for the establishment of Central University for Minorities.
