Hyderabad, November 13: A.P. State Backward Classes Welfare Association demanded for the enhancement of hostel mess charges for the students of degree classes. There are 627 BC girls’ hostels, 552 SC hostels and 242 tribal hostels.
Only Rs. 520 per month are being paid to the students of degree classes which are insufficient to meet hostel expenses.
Mr. R. Krishnaiah, President of A.P. Backward Classes Welfare Association told that because of insufficient money, many students are leaving the hostels and discontinuing their education. He requested the Govt. to enhance mess charges upto Rs. 1500 per month. He also requested for the enhancement of mess charges from Rs. 960 to Rs. 150 for the students of professional colleges pursuing Engineering, Medicine and Management courses.
