Delighted Hesson appreciates Kiwi’s aggressive approach

New Zealand coach Mike Hesson has said he is delighted with his side’s aggressive approach after coming from behind to draw a Test series with England.

New Zealand defeated England by 199 runs in the second Test at Headingley after they lost the first Test by 124 runs at Lord’s. The victory, only their fifth in 54 Tests in England, saw New Zealand level the series one all and unbeaten in seven successive Test series.

Hesson said that they stuck to the way they wanted to play and in a short space of time they got the initiative back, Sport24 reported.

He added that it was the seventh Test series in a row without defeat and that was something they were immensely proud of as a group.

New Zealand made shaky starts in both the innings of their second Test. They were 2-2 in their first innings and 23-2 in their second, but they continued to attack England’s bowlers and recovered to post totals of 350 and 454 for eight declared respectively.

He said that it was challenging because obviously if it would have not worked, they could have got exposed, insisting that they were under pressure a lot of the time and on most occasions we took a step forward. (ANI)
