Delhi: State authorities & others flout HC orders, served notices

New Delhi: Construction of a new building for Quami Senior Secondary School is yet to begin despite orders of Delhi High Court that has passed directions three months ago.

Now a legal notice has been served to State government, Delhi Waqf Board, DDA, DoE authorities in the case.

Quami Senior Secondary School has been working since 1976 from the Shahi Eidgah grounds.

Over the past several years a new building for the school students has been in demand.

The Delhi High Court has earlier passed directions in August to comply within three months and directed DoE to build a “state-of-the-art Urdu medium school” in the plot of land, TOI reports.

“Despite being over three months, no step has been taken and the school is still operating from the Shahi Eidgah grounds,” argued lawyer Tibah Siddiqui.

He argued that HC’s order was not complied and that “with motivated intentions to the prejudice and detriment of the education of the poor, and the needy sections of the society.”

The Court has now told that if the court’s order is not implemented the authorities would be facing contempt proceedings.

However, the Director of Education Sanjay Goyal has said that the land for the school has been identified.

“We have written to the DDA and are awaiting their response,” he added.
