Delhi to send 200 teachers on ‘exposure trips’

New Delhi: The Delhi government on Sunday announced it will send 200 of its teachers on “exposure trips” to leading educational institutions in Mumbai, Bengaluru, Jaipur and Ahmedabad.

These teachers would visit various government and private schools, and non-governmental organisations working in the field of education to observe and understand their teaching methods and innovations, an official statement said.

“Mentor teachers will be deeply enriched by their exposure trips that the government has organised for them. I am positive that this will significantly improve their ability to build capacities of other teachers in future,” Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said.

The educational trips would take place in March, the government said.

Mentor teachers are a group of around 200 teachers who support and assist peers from five-six schools each.

The Delhi government had last year sent around 100 mentor teachers to Singapore for education and skill training.
