Delhi Police holds coordination meeting ahead of Republic Day

The Delhi Police on Friday held a coordination meeting with its counterparts of the neighbouring states in order to review security arrangements for the upcoming Republic Day.

“In view of the upcoming Republic Day, we held a coordination meeting with the officers of our neighbouring states so that the security in the city can be arranged and they too can be kept in the loop. Apart from that, we also discussed other police-related matters,” Delhi Police Commissioner B.S. Bassi told the media here.

“For Republic Day, our security arrangements are at an optimum and our neighbouring states always help us out in this regard,” he added.

Security has been beefed up in the city for US President Barack Obama’s upcoming visit to the country, where he will be the chief guest at the Republic Day parade.

Bassi had earlier in the day reportedly warned of possible terror attacks in the national capital on Republic Day by means of paragliders or drones.

According to reports, officials from the Home Ministry have stated that President Obama’s security plans will be discussed with the advance team and the instructions would be issued to the security agencies by next week.
