Delhi Police Head Constable Shoots Self with AK-47; Suicide note states family issues

New Delhi: A 34-year-old Territorial Army head constable committed suicide at the Territorial Army headquarters located at Sher Shah Road near Delhi High Court on Tuesday morning leaving behind a suicide note in which he hinted at tensions on the family front.

Suneel Patole, who hails from Nasik in Maharashtra killed himself using his service AK-47 assault rifle at around 7.30 am when his colleagues heard the gunshots they rushed to the spot where they found Patole lying on the ground in a pool of blood.

A senior police officer said. “Patole was rushed to the Armed Force Clinic, Dalhousie road, where he was declared brought dead.”

Patole was posted in coy quarter master, 116TA para, at the Territorial Army headquarters. His colleagues said he was depressed because of some personal and family issues.

BK Singh, deputy commissioner of police (New Delhi), said a suicide note which was discovered from Patole was written in Marathi. “In the note, Patole has mentioned his bank account details and the code required for operating his account. He has written that he did not wish to work anymore,” he said.

The police said the body has been sent for autopsy.
