New Delhi, February 28: Delhi Police today got a Rs 504.22 crore increase in the budget allocation for the next fiscal with Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee allocating Rs 3,340.75 crore for its functioning.
In the 2011-12 budget presented in Lok Sabha by Mukherjee, the city police was allocated a total of Rs 90 crore in plan head while Rs 3,210.75 crore was earmarked for non-plan expenditure.
Another Rs 10 crore has been allocated for constructing residential buildings for policemen while Rs 21 crore has been earmarked for building offices.
Last year, Rs 2,836.53 crore was proposed in the budget, which had showed a decrease of Rs 127.50 crore from the previous fiscal.
This fiscal, the revised budget showed that Delhi Police actually spent Rs 3131.70 crore.
The budgetary provisions for developing traffic and communication network and a model traffic system has seen an increase of Rs two crore to Rs 82 crore this year.
