New Delhi: Delhi Police on Wednesday arrested the owner of Love Commandos, an NGO that claims to help and protect couples from harassment and honour killings, for threatening and extorting money from a couple.

The case against owner Sanjay Sachdev has been registered under extortion and confinement sections. According to the police, four couples were at the NGO out of which one had complained to the Delhi Commission for Women stating that their documents were taken by Sachdev and he was extorting money and threatening them.

DCW chairperson Swati Maliwal took to Twitter to share details of the incident. She said, “DCW team inspected a shelter home run by NGO Love Commandoes and rescued 4 couples from there yesterday who were illegally confined in inhumane conditions and the huge sum of money was extorted from them. We called the police who have now filed an FIR in the matter and arrested the owner.”
