Delhi man held of duping 8000 people for Bitcoins worth Rs 2000 crore

New Delhi: A Delhi-based Bitcoin entrepreneur Amit Bhardwaj has been arrested by the Pune Police for duping 8,000 people across the country for a total of Rs 2,000 crore. He was arrested at Delhi airport after his seven aides were arrested earlier.

Bhardwaj started an online retail marketplace for accepting Bitcoin four years ago. “He owns a chain of bitcoin mining operations, notable among them are Gain bitcoin- which claims to have set up bitcoin mining operations in China, GB Miners, located in Hong Kong and the recently launched, MCAP,” a report of New18 quoting a leading newspaper said.

Bhardwaj reportedly set up a Multi-Level marketing scam and promised customers with heavy returns on Bitcoins. Along with this, he offered investors to facilitate bitcoin mining hardware, for mining their own bitcoins.
