New Delhi: A 29-year-old man, who was missing since October 20, was found dead on the banks of Hindon river in Ghaziabad today, following which locals went on a rampage in north Delhi’s Burari area.
The man, identified as Pawan, was spotted by a passer-by.
Police suspect that he was murdered and his body dumped by the river.
A case of abduction was registered with police after Pawan, a resident of the area, went missing. The body has been sent for autopsy, police said.
Pawan’s relatives and a few locals went on a rampage, and damaged several vehicles in the evening today after the victim’s body was recovered. A case of rioting will be registered against them, police said.
When a team led by DCP (North) Madhur Verma reached the spot to control the situation, the mob pelted stones at them, leading to more ruckus.
