Delhi: A Kashmiri student who was arrested on charges of hacking around 500 websites, will be now able to appear in his MCA Examination. Delhi High Court on Tuesday directed police to take Adil Teeli to examination hall at an institute in Punjab’s Jalandhar.
A division bench of Justices S Muralidhar and I S Mehta observed that the Kashmiri student was taken into custody on the orders of deputy metropolitan magistrate until May 7 from April 29. The High Court passed the directions after hearing the parties. Counsel who appeared for the police, Rahul Mehra, said that they did not know about Teeli had the examination that begins on May 2.
According to a report by Greater Kashmir, the court ordered that Teeli should be taken to his institute. Advocate Mehra accepted notice on behalf of the state and informed the court he would file a status report on Teeli’s arrest.
Teeli was arrested on the intervening night of April 26 and 27 when police had claimed that he was involved in hacking the websites along with other Kashmiri students. Teeli was represented by Mrs Shahrukh Alam and others while cyber cell of Delhi police was defended by Mehra and others.
