New Delhi, September 03: The Delhi High Court today sought an explanation from the police after it noticed that in several cases the police filed reports without verification stating NBWs, issued by the court, could not be served on the accused as they were unavailable at the given address.
A Division Bench headed by Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul directed the Commissioner of Police that such reports be filed before the court with a detailed reason and a senior and responsible officer sign the report while submitting it to the court.
The court’s direction came after two accused, who have obtained bail during the pendency of their appeal on the ground that the same as been pending for several years, appeared before it following the NBW whereas on the same date the police filed a report stating that they were untraceable
Taking a serious view of the issue, the Bench directed the police to give its explanation by September 12.
