New Delhi: Heavy rains have slashed capital city in the north along with Gurgaon leading to flooded roads and traffic jam today halting the daily commuters life who were stranded for hours
Morning traffic jams on roads prompted the Delhi Police to alert the public through micro-blogging site Twitter, NDTV reported.
The traffic towards the busy Delhi-Jaipur-Mumbai highway was also disrupted. “Our team is trying to make the traffic movement smoother,” said Gurgaon’s Assistant Commissioner of Police Heera Singh.
While the rains in Guragaon’s other places too flooded roads with commuters being forced to walk through knee-deep water.
The humidity level this morning in Delhi rose up to 100 percent with midnight thunderstorms leading to uprooted trees, broken power cables, water logging in few neighbouring places.
Apart from Gurgaon, Noida and Ghaziabad too had little rain.
According to the statistics, the national capital city Delhi has so far received the highest rainfall in three years in a day this August at 49.6 mm. Monsoon this year arrived in Delhi on June 28.
Many people took to twitter to share the weather updates and pictures of flooded roads and underpasses.
