New Delhi, August 10: In what can set an example for providing services and entitlements to the needy people in a hassle free manner, Delhi Government’s Gender Resource Centres-Suvidha Kendras could teach a lesson in the field of empowerment of society.
“The idea was basically to provide various welfare schemes which the Delhi Government has launched for the poorer sections of the society — those who are homeless, living in resettled and unauthorised colonies,” Coordinator of GRC-SK (Kalkaji) Mukesh Kumari said.
The Gender Resource Centres-Suvidha Kendras (GRC-SK) have got a favourable response from the people.
“Women who come here are basically migrants who are in need of financial and other benefits. We provide them a means for their earning by imparting various vocational skills and non-formal education,” Kumari said.
Under the the Delhi Government’s ‘Mission Convergence’, which was launched on Aug 14, 2008, there are presently around 78 such GRC-SKs in the capital which is based on the Bhagidari model.
