New Delhi : Rejecting media reports that the Delhi Government is not empowered to constitute an inquiry commission into the alleged irregularities in the DDCA, Deputy Chief Minister of Manish Sisodia on Tuesday said sports is a subject that comes under preview of the Delhi Government, and under the Commissions of Inquiry Act 1952, the Government is fully empowered to constitute a probe committee to look into it.
While addressing the House, Sisodia pointed out that after the name of Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley figured in the DDCA report, a raid was conducted on the Chief Minister’s Office and an FIR was filed against Chetan Shahni, a Delhi Government officer who had prepared the DDCA report, by the Anti Corruption Bureau, which comes under the preview of the Central Government.
“Officials are being targeted and threatened for doing their duties, Chief Minister’s Office was raided, and young cricket enthusiasts’ career is being spoilt,” alleged Sisodia, adding that it becomes the responsibility of the House to discuss the issue with utmost seriousness and to take some decision.
Bharatiya Janata Party president Amit Shah had on Monday said whether the Delhi Government was empowered to constitute a Commission of Inquiry into the DDCA case was a matter of legal discussion. (ANI)
