Delhi Govt. enhances honoraria to Imams, Muazzins

Hyderabad: Govt. of Delhi has decided to enhance the amounts of honoraria for Imams and Muazzins. Delhi Govt. led by AAP is the first government to offer such huge remunerations to Imams and Muazzins of Masajid.

This was disclosed by Mr. Amanatullah Khan, Chairman of Delhi Wakf Board in a meeting held with Islamic scholars yesterday. He further said that Mr. Arvind Kejriwal, CM of Delhi will make this announcement on 23rd January in a function scheduled to be held at Aiwan-e-Ghalib in New Delhi.

It may be mentioned that at present, Rs. 10000 and Rs. 9000 are given to Imams and Muazzins respectively in New Delhi. The amount of honoraria will now be enhanced and Imams will get Rs. 18000 and Muazzins Rs. 16000 per month.

In addition to these honoraria, the amounts to be paid to Imams and Muazzins of masajid which are not registered with Wakf Board will also get this enhancement. In these masajid, Rs. 14000 and Rs. 12000 per month will be given to Imams and Muazzins respectively.

Mr. Amanatullah Khan, Chairman and Mr. Choudhary Shareef, member of Delhi Wakf Board told that the Govt. led by Mr. Arvind Kejriwal is serious about the welfare of minorities.
Various Islamic scholars and Muslim organizations have requested the people of Delhi to make the function scheduled to be held on 23rd January a grand success.

It is pertinent to note that Govt. of TS, Govt. of AP and Governments of others States have been giving less honoraria to Imams and Muazzins when compared to the rates proposed by New Delhi government.
