Delhi: CM Kejriwal to hold “state conference” on July 1

New Delhi: Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal has announced to hold a “state conference” in the nation’s capital to press the party’s demand for make Delhi a full-fledged state.

The announcement comes days after Arvind and his party ministers held a 9 days long sit-in-protest at Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal’s official residence, New Nation reported.

Party leader Gopal Rai in his tweet said: The AAP party will hold a ‘state conference’ on July 1 at 3 pm at Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in Delhi. You are requested to join in large numbers to make this protest a success.

Kejriwal had earlier exhorted his party workers to join his ‘L-G, Delhi Chodo’ campaign demanding a full statehood to Delhi.

Earlier on June 11, CM speaking on the assembly accused Governor of creating obstacles in the development works carried out by his government.

The CM while addressing a special session at Delhi Legislative Assembly said: “I want to tell BJP that if before 2019 Elections, Delhi is granted statehood, we’ll make sure that each and every vote from Delhi goes in your favour, we’ll campaign for you”.

Following which the Assembly had passed a resolution on the same day, demanding the Central government to introduce a Constitutional Amendment Bill in the Parliament to grant full statehood to Delhi.
