Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal holds DJB work progress review meet

New Delhi: A week after he suspended three DJB officials over alleged delay in water projects, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today appeared to have mellowed down as he held a review meeting with officials and “expressed satisfaction” with the board’s work.

“The CM reviewed progress of water projects in the meeting and he was satisfied with the DJB work. In the meeting, some MLAs raised issues of water shortage in their areas,” an official of the DJB said.

Last week, a chief engineer and two executive engineers were suspended by the chief minister for purportedly not being able to explain as to why work in their respective areas had been delayed. After suspension of officials, a section of staff of the DJB sat on a dharna against the move.

“This was a review meeting following a meet the CM had with MLAs and engineers last week. The meeting was satisfactory,” an MLA from West Delhi said.

Another MLA from South-West Delhi said the chief minister too appeared satisfied with the work done. Sources said that the suspension of officials may be revoked after protest by the staff.
