Delhi choked as BJP protests price rise

New Delhi, April 21: BJP will hold a massive rally in Delhi on Wednesday to protest against the UPA government’s “poor economic policies” that led to sky rocketing prices of essential commodities.

According to reports, an estimated 3 lakh people would assemble at Ramlila Maidan in central Delhi in support of BJP rally against price rise.

The massive rally is also expected to trigger traffic chaos as the movement of vehicles across much of the city is expected to be badly hit.

As per reports, around 2pm, at least 10,000 protesters will lead a protest march to Jantar Mantar through JLN Marg, Tolstoy Marg and Sansad Marg, crossing Barakhamba Road and KG Marg along the way.

The saffron brigade has decided to utilise all parking lots around Ramlila Maidan — including ITO — and Jantar Mantar for vehicles ferrying the protesters coming from every nooks and corners of the country.

Vehiclular movement on Ring Road, Mathura Road, India Gate, Tilak Marg, BSZ Marg, JLN Marg, Asaf Ali Road, Netaji Subhash Marg, Ranjit Singh Marg, Tolstoy Marg, Sikandara Road, Barakhamba Road, Parliament Street and Ashoka Road is most likely to be hit during the rally.

The main opposition BJP and Left parties have already joined hands to press the UPA government for failing to curb spiraling inflation and hike in prices of essential commodities.

The opposition has been holding anti-price rise campaign and rallies in various parts of the country, including Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, and today’s rally is expected to exert more pressure on the Congress led government in the centre.

There was no shortage of foodgrains and essential commodities in the country, but the UPA government’s economic policies and encouragement to big business houses were the main reasons of price rise, BJP leadership alleges.
