Delhi builder shoots self

New Delhi, January 17: A 42-year-old builder allegedly committed suicide Monday evening by shooting himself at his residence in west Delhi, police said.

According to police, Rajender Singh was a contractor for the National Buildings Construction Corporation (NBCC) for the last six years and reportedly under depression over financial issues for the last few months.

The victim was a resident of B-Block Janakpuri. His wife Neelam Singh, 37, a housewife, along with her two children had gone to the nearby market when the incident happened.

“On returning, she found the door locked from inside. When Singh did not respond to the door bell, she entered the house through the staircase which was used by the tenants to access the upper floors of the house,” a police official said.

Upon entering, she found her husband lying dead on the bed with a revolver by his side.

According to police, Singh had shot himself near the right ear. He used a licensed .32 bore revolver which he had purchased from Kanpur a few years ago.
